The Kids of Lyoko
Jeremy Belpois:
Jeremy is a classic brain type, but he also has a kind heart. He cares deeply
for Aelita, and he is willing to put himself in danger to help her. Jeremy has his own room at Kadic Academy, and it
is full of computer accessories and a very powerful PC. His wall sports a giant poster of Einstein. While his
friends are in Lyoko, Jeremy is manning the supercomputer in the real world, watching the action on-screen and giving the
others a heads-up for any danger that XANA might send their way. His intelligence, technical knowledge, and devotion
make him a key member of the group.
Odd Della-Robbia:
Odd is the joker of the group, and he's always willing to have a crack at the school
bully Sissi. While he's at school, he's clowning around and focusing on having a good time. That attitude carries
over into Lyoko, since he often makes jokes and taunts the various creatures that are intent on destroying him and his friends.
He is also devoted to his dog, Kiwi, and keeps him in the dorm room at Kadic. His devil-may-care attitude sometimes
worries his pals, but he has never failed to help any of them when they are in need. His virtual self looks somewhat
like a cat, with a tail, claws, and feline stripes on his face; and he is able to climb trees as well. His powers include
being able to shoot laser arrows and sensing the future, often getting his friends out of trouble before they are in it.
Yumi Ishiyama:
Yumi is a day student, and she is the only one of the group who does not sleep
in the dorms. She lives in town with her parents and little brother. Yumi is a quiet girl, with a secret love
for Ulrich. At school, she works hard, and is known to be something of a Goth--she wears black much of the time.
On Lyoko, Yumi's virtual self resembles a geisha, complete with kimono, sash, Japanese hairstyle, and fans.
Yumi's powers include telekinetic ability and fighting ability using the fans, which are not paper or cloth, but are metal.
These fans often function as boomerangs and shields, knocking out an enemy or blocking attack. Yumi's determination
to help her friends often causes trouble with her parents, since she is often late coming home after a battle
in Lyoko. Sometimes, Yumi has to be creative with her answers concerning where she has been spending all her time.
Ulrich Stern:
Ulrich is the dreamer of the group. He hides his feelings for Yumi, although
he can often be found psyching himself up to tell her how he feels about her. Unfortunately, school bully Sissi
has the hots for Ulrich, and she often tries to waylay him. Ulrich tries his hardest to help his friends when
they have trouble, and he often puts himself in danger by doing so. While on Lyoko, Ulrich is
dressed like a ninja. He wears black, carries a katana sword, and wears a gold headband. Ulrich's powers
include being able to confuse enemies by triplicating himself, using superspeed to outrun trouble or rush to the rescue,
and his sword-fighting ability. Since he studies martial arts and soccer, his fighting skills and speed knowledge are
top-notch. Ulrich is Odd's best friend, and Odd considers Ulrich his best buddy. Not suprisingly, the duo
share a room at Kadic.
Aelita/Aelita Stones/Aelita Hopper:
Aelita was discovered on Lyoko by Jeremy when he turned on the supercomputer
to see what it did. Aside from XANA and his creatures, Aelita was the only inhabitant of Lyoko. Now that she
lives in the real world, Aelita lives at Kadic Academy with the others and attends classes there. While virtualized
on Lyoko, her powers consist of changing the environment (she does this by singing) and shutting down the activated
towers during an attack. Once she shuts down an activated tower, the attack stops. In the real world, Aelita took
the last name Stones and poses as Odd's cousin to satisfy school officials. Aelita is kind, and
she is fascinated by the real world and all it has to offer. When she lived on Lyoko, she had only two senses (seeing
and hearing) with which to experience things, but once on Earth, she began experiencing things with five.
She loves to experience new things, learn new things, and try new things. She has talent for mixing music and being
a dj, but she loves most to be with her friends. Aelita is devoted to Jeremy, since he was her first contact with
the real world and discovered a way to materialize her so she would not remain isolated and exposed to XANA's attacks on Lyoko.
As time goes by, the kids learn more about Aelita, and they discover that the creator of Lyoko and XANA was also Aelita's
father, Franz Hopper. Aelita's human memories were taken from her by XANA when she was virtualized to Lyoko by her father
in an effort to keep her safe, but with the discovery of Sector Five, she has regained those memories. Although ambivalent
about her father, Aelita has accpeted what happened to her and has decided to get on with her life.
